This last weekend, the men of Sigma Phi Epsilon all converged on the edge of Chicago for two days of networking, learning, and leadership preparation. Chapters from all over the Midwest were present, including our very own, Iowa Theta. The conference was required for all executive members that were able to make the event, and open to any member of the chapter that was desiring to be an executive member in the future.
There were tracks available for all the executive boards’ positions as well as a volunteer track that was meant for older members who were desiring for networking and alumni involvement. We were able to send a total of 21 guys in the numerous tracks.
Our own chapter was awarded the Frank J. Ruck award for our exemplary performance with the Sexual Assault Awareness Week this website. The Frank J. Ruck Leadership Award is presented each year at Carlson Leadership Academies to a chapter or individual who shows outstanding campus or community leadership and makes significant positive changes on the campus/community as a whole.
At Sigma Phi Epsilon – Iowa Theta, we strive to raise awareness about sexual assault and do everything to promote being an active bystander. We send our members through a Men in Violence Prevention training each semester so they know what to do in these complex situations. As a chapter, we focus primarily on sexual assault as it is a problem that arises with fraternities and college campuses by hosting a full week of activities to raise awareness.
