Sexual assaults involving fraternities is not a new problem. In fact, such assaults are high on the list of insurance claims against fraternities nationwide. At Sigma Phi Epsilon – Iowa Theta, we strive to raise awareness about sexual assault and do everything to promote being an active bystander. We send our members through a Men in Violence Prevention training each semester so they know what to do in these complex situtations. Along with that, we host a week long philanthropy raising awareness about sexual assault at Northern Iowa and raising money for Cedar Valley Friends of the Family. This organization creates a safe environment for victims of sexual assault as well as domestic abuse and the homeless. As a chapter, we focus primarily on sexual assault as it is a problem that arises with fraternities and college campuses. Some events we host throughout the week (March 30th – April 3rd) to raise awareness regarding this issue are:

Monday 24 hour SeeSAAW outside of Union

Reason: To establish the fact that sexual assault can happen anytime of the day and it is a never ending issue.
